John Norton is the Director of Decorating Operations at SC4 Carpenters Ltd. He is responsible for managing all aspects of SC4 Decorators, the company's dedicated painting and decorating division which complements the core carpentry and timber frame services.
Experience and Role
John is a highly experienced professional with a career spanning more than 35 years in the decorating industry. He joined the SC4 team in 2010, bringing his extensive expertise to lead the decorating division.
In his role as Director, John has overall responsibility for:
- Decorating Contracts: Overseeing the management and execution of all painting and decorating contracts.
- Quality and Professionalism: Ensuring that the workforce and the final units meet the highest standards of quality and professionalism.
- Operational Management: Managing and supervising operatives, ensuring correct labour levels, and maintaining excellent general house-keeping on site.
- Client Communication: Maintaining constant contact with contracts managers and site managers throughout projects to ensure smooth operations and timely completion.

SC4 Decorators has performed very well on both of these large projects in 2017-18 for which I was the Senior Contract Surveyor.
They have managed and supervised their operatives very well in terms of quality of work, correct labour levels as and when required, general house-keeping was excellent and John Norton kept in constant contact with both our contracts manager and site manager throughout the project on a regular basis.
They attended every site progress meeting without fail and were very helpful with regards to overcoming problems on site with minimal fuss.
From a commercial perspective they were within budget, minimal variations and the final account was a smooth process.
