Innovative timber frame construction in Hampshire
To celebrate our 21st birthday in 2021 at SC4 Carpenters Ltd, we looked back at some of our early projects.
2007 - a groundbreaking year for SC4's timberframe installation services
In late 2006, we started our first major timber frame project, providing the timber frame installation for construction of 17 new homes in Southampton for Prestoplan. We then went on to provide carpentry services for these 10 houses and 7 flats to the principal contractor Kier Partnership Homes.
In the same year, SC4 Carpenters worked closely with Prestoplan to fine tune the installation process for innovative timber frame roof rooms at the Park Prewitt Road site in Basingstoke. From the first installation, SC4 provided on-site R&D to optimise the installation process for the innovative Prestoplan design, which enabled a third-storey room in the roof to be added in as little as 3 days compared to up to three weeks for conventional building methods.
SC4 went straight on to provide timberframe installation, carpentry and decorating services for a further 28 homes in Frimley Green, near Camberley (see below) to Prestoplan and Kier Partnership Homes.

SC4 offers considerable experience in this area, with its in-house team of Appointed Person (AP), crane supervisors, slinger signallers and timber frame erectors (heavy structures).
